A differentiation benchmark fixes the patient population first, picks the handful of outcomes that decide the market, and sets your asset's minimum, target and aspirational profile against the published evidence for the standard of care and the strongest competitor. It answers the question every Phase 3 design, licensing deal and investor memo turns on: what does this asset have to show to win?
Is this the right model for you?
- Setting a target product profile before committing to Phase 3
- Screening an in-licensing opportunity against today's standard of care and the one coming
- Preparing a partnering or financing story that investors will test against the competition
- Anticipating the comparators an HTA body, or the EU joint clinical assessment, will ask about
- Deciding whether a Phase 2 read-out is differentiated enough to justify the next step
What's included
Ulcerative colitis
We built one on public data for a hypothetical new advanced therapy in moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. It shows three things a target product profile set against placebo alone would miss.
- NICE has recommended all ten medicines it has appraised individually in this population since 2015, the last five with an instruction to use the least expensive suitable option, while the G-BA found added benefit not proven for all nine it assessed.
- Placebo arms move the answer: four medicines reach about 50% remission at one year, yet read as anything from a 25-point to a 41-point gain.
- With twelve Phase 3s running or about to start, two of them head to head, the comparator at launch is unlikely to be the comparator today.
Open sources, every figure cited
Benchmarks are built from ClinicalTrials.gov, regulatory approvals and labels, peer-reviewed publications, congress abstracts and company releases where no full paper exists, and the HTA agencies' own decision records, including our database of 23,515 decisions. Because the sources are open, every figure can sit in a board paper, an investor deck or a submission with its citation beside it.
Fee tiers
All fees are fixed price. Scope, deliverables and timeline are agreed before work begins. Further populations or markets are quoted on request.
